Welcome! My name is Taylor McCarthy and I am a licensed professional counselor. I am passionate about helping those on their road to recovery and healing. I incorporate humor and honesty in my sessions as well as evidence based modalities.
Therapy Approaches
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
DBT allows us to learn how to regulate our emotions, tolerate distressful situations, and increase mindfulness to allow processing to begin.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy helps us to reauthor our stories. As we externalize what we are going through, we can have more self-compassion and understanding of why we think/behave the ways we do.
Internal Family Systems
IFS lets us look at all the different parts that make up who we are. It helps us understand what might feel like an internal war going on inside of us.
What Does therapy look like?
I incorporate dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my practice. One modality might not be your cup of tea (get it) and that's okay! Tell me what you've found helpful so far!
I am a firm believer in treatment coordination with your other health care providers to make sure you are getting the highest level of professional care. I frequently coordinate with dietitians, primary care providers, and previously attended programs/facilities. I find this creates a strong supportive treatment team. A perfect blend.
